Wow. Wonder how long a battery can power various items.

Thank you, this is a beaut.

Makes me wonder about a laptop.

No way. The amount of current that the tv requires is not possible from an AAA battery....

No need for physics, and all that icky math, we have U-Tube, where the possibilities are limitless

No way is right! A dc battery powering a ac TV.

AMPSxVOLTS=WATTS

This little formula answers many many questions about electricity.

People really should learn it.

This is handy too.

do those batteries he is using come from the 6V torch batteries you can cut open. There is like 2 dozen AA's inside. And if you cut open a car battery you get a couple hundred. It was on youtube as well.

yes, AC and DC are just a smidge different. Of course the TV is going to have an AC to DC Converter so it could technically be bypassed and DC fed. AC is primarily used for transport, I think because it has less loss over distance.

I dont know what kind of car you have, but I have never seen anything but lead / zinc plates and sulfuric acid inside car batteries

Actually there are 4 1.5 volt cells in a 6volt battery. The resemble long D' cells without the metal case.

If you are being sarcastic, your forgot the gif.

1.5V DC = 120V AC, who would have thought

3 years of Elec. Engineering school and I learned more in a 2 minute youtube vid

Actually DC would be less lossy at similar (high) voltages, but changing the voltage is waaaay more difficult than a simple AC transformer.

DC TV is not a big deal. I've used one of these little babies for years. Takes 6 rechargeable C-cells and it has a built-in AC recharger.

Not that hard....$1 worth of diodes will get you DC.......Fist you need one of them thar rectumfriers...

Now, getting really clean DC is a little harder....

Actually made these the old fashioned way a few time when repairing fried rectifiers on old equipment. Sometimes it is easier just to build it than go find a prepackaged one that will fit in the old solder mount points.

I still use my old 2.5" color Casio tv. Gonna suck when they take the analogue tv off.

That was part of a few daft videos put on youtube by another website to fool fools into thinking these things would work. Then the rest of the members put on comments saying "Wow, it really does work!". There are are a fair few of them out there. Remember, if it seems too good to be true...

I really wanted free electricity for my TV, so I cut open my car battery... but all I got was lead poisoning and horrible, horrible acid burns on my arms, legs, chest, neck and face.

<s>Does</s> Did my car have the wrong kind of battery in it?

That was awesome, now if I could just harness the raw energy from my farts we would have something. I'll start working on the video for you guys.:moon:

You need a F.A.R.T. to supercharge your farts, then you can really get some power from them!
